No More Landmines
Freeing communities from the legacy of war

No More Landmines helps and empowers communities around the world by removing the threat of landmines and
unexploded weapons. We also provide support for survivors of landmine accidents to enable them to lead fulfilling lives.

No More Landmines Day

No More Landmines Day

Although No More Landmines day has come and gone our free teachers' resource pack can be used throughout the year and your school can help us to reach our £100,000 target to help save lives and limbs in countries where cluster bombs are an every-day threat to innocent lives.

No More Landmines Day 2007 had a focus on cluster bombs.

Cluster bombs are air-dropped or ground launched weapons that eject a number of smaller sub-munitions (bomblets). The area affected by a single cluster munition can be as large as three football fields. But like landmines they litter the ground, with the potential to explode years later.

Both landmines and cluster bombs pose an enormous daily risk to civilians, particularly children, in some of the world’s poorest countries who are already struggling to recover from conflict.

The landmine and cluster bomb issue can be introduced into a whole host of subjects and the resources should enable you to link them with lessons such as history, geography, maths, English and citizenship.

The pack also contains an opportunity for students to gain an understanding of advocacy and participate in a nationwide campaign to ban or restrict the use of cluster munitions.

There are a whole host of ideas for fundraising which is a crucial part of our campaign as we aim to raise £100,000 to change lives for the better. We hope that these fun and easy ideas will engage schools and contribute towards saving lives around the world. Whatever amount your school raises will be gratefully received and will make a fantastic difference - we will write and thank the students who have taken part.
